Peter Ernst

is the landscape designer for South Fork Gardening and Landscaping, Inc of Southampton. Peter has also been involved independently with several design projects throughout his career. His work entails assisting clientele throughout the creative process from drawing landscape architectural plans to doing on-site design and project layouts.

In 2003, Peter was commissioned by Helga Dawn of the Southampton Rose Society (SRS) to design the Rose Garden at the Rogers Memorial Library in Southampton, NY. He has worked on other beautification projects for the SRS in the community, as well as designing and planning many residential sites in the Hamptons and beyond.

Growing up in an environmentally conscious family of educators – enjoying every aspect of outdoor life from backyards, ballfields, and beaches to salt marshes, mountains, and main streets – has informed his professional life. While in college, Peter had design internships with both the Town of East Hampton Planning Department and the City of Syracuse, but his passion is in creative site design. Peter taps into his own sensibilities of the natural world, art, architecture and science in order to create outdoor spaces that are both purposeful and aesthetically pleasing.

Peter holds a degree in Ornamental Horticulture from SUNY Farmingdale and a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (BLA) degree from the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse, NY.
